The purpose of the position is to provide necessary technical support to the WHO Country office in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Under the direct supervision of the first-level supervisor and overall guidance of WR Pakistan/Head of WHO Country Office, Pakistan, the incumbent will:
- In coordination with the supervisor, collaborate with other teams within the WHO Country Office to ensure AMR is appropriately included in programmatic activities in other clusters and programmatic areas.
- Provide technical support to the office in addressing AMR, while ensuring that the activities in this area are carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Liaise with national counterparts to coordinate the development of national strategies and policies through technical advice and guidance for AMR.

- Provide necessary support in the implementation of a comprehensive programmatic approach to address AMR in the human health sector including training, communication and awareness, building capacity of laboratories, strengthening surveillance.
- Facilitate the technical coordination across all relevant UHC/PHC and health systems units to ensure AMR activities are costed/ budgeted, embedded, implemented and monitored in the national health systems strengthening plans and funded through engagement of development partners.
- Provide necessary technical support to enhance (1) implementation of action plans and strategies on AMR through their inclusion into relevant sectoral and national development plans and budgets (WHO country cooperation strategy, common country analysis and UNSDCF) and (2) strengthening cross-sectoral work on AMR in collaboration with the national and international organizations (Quadripartite organizations, WHO, FAO, WOAH, UNEP).
- Facilitate to track progress on relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators, and milestones linked to the implementation of national action plans for AMR.
- Perform any other relevant task assigned by the supervisor.
