Assignment context: UNDP Innovation-Accelerator Lab, integrated within Pakistan country office, is a dedicated learning space to reimagine development solutions. Our team works with the country office programmes and partners to explore and experiment new approaches, from ethnography to design, to find inclusive and human-centred approaches for meaningful change.

1. Task description:

The Communication Associate supports communication policy and knowledge management activities that strengthen the promotion of the project interventions, enhance transparency, raise awareness and information sharing among key partners and general population. In day to day activities communication Associate performs following functions:


  • Develop Communications and visibility, branding and knowledge management plan in accordance with Acc-Lab's targets agreed in the Annual Work Plan;
  • Support AccLab to coordinate with internal and external partners
  • Support Acc Lab team to create communications and knowledge products includes: writing and editing blogs post, human interests stories, monthly newsletters, briefs for the web page, case study reports, playbook, etc;
  • Support the team in the preparation and generation of social media content for the dissemination of the lab's work in the ecosystem with entrepreneurs, innovation labs, academia and development expert;
  • Using Facebook and Google Analytics and other measurement tools to provide regular reports on engagement metrics, and continually find ways to improve on those metrics through testing any new initiatives;
  • Support lab to design and execute content for advocacy and community practice initiatives including podcasts, webinars, policy dialogues, etc;
  • Coordinate with the designer to build branding of the Lab and its knowledge products, data visuals and communication campaigns;
  • Assist in the logistical and communication preparations of key events and activities in coordination with the various stakeholders such as internal teams external guests/organizations, designers, and printing services;
  • Assist with any other duties as may be deemed necessary;

Required education:

A Bachelor / Master’s degree in digital communications, Media Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Development studies or any related field.

Required experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in the relevant field.

  • Academic/practical understanding of global social innovation trends and methodologies;
  • Sound knowledge of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook Instagram, Podcast and webcast platforms;
  • Excellent ability to write and communicate orally with accuracy and professionalism;
  • Excellent organizational, time management and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to multi-task, work flexibly and meet tight deadlines;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required;
  • Experience and ability to use a range of visual presentation tools such as MS Excel charts, CANVA, Adobe Photoshop and other similar tools;
  • Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms;
  • Working experience in a development or innovation environment is desirable.

Desirable Competencies

§ Strong theoretical and practical background in Communications and outreach;

§ Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required;

§ Proficiency in the use of analytical and statistical software packages such as STATA, TSP, SPSS, MATLAB and SAS;

§ Experience and ability to use a range of visual presentation tools such as MS Excel charts, CANVA, Adobe Photoshop and other similar tools;

§ Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms;

§ Working experience in a development or innovation environment is desirable.
